CD Reviews

I wish there were more music like this
D. Jarvis | New York | 07/25/2004

"The reason i started to listen to Teitur is because he was opening for John Mayer last year. He was so simple and his lyrics were so heartfelt....I fell in love with him instantly. I bought his album right after the show and i have been passing it around to all my friends and they love him too. He is just so great and once you start listening to this album you will just get hooked. My favs from this CD are ,You are the Ocean, I was Just Thinking and To See You. And if you fall in love with him like i did make sure that you try and catch a show because he is also great live. www.teitur.com"
Debut shows promise for this singer songwriter from the Faer
A. G. Corwin | 03/25/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The last thing you would expect to come out of the Faeroes, a small cluster of sparse islands in the North Atlantic, is a talented singer-songwriter whose debut album shows considerable promise for the future. Introduced to American audiences by singer John Mayer, Teitur Larssen has now joined sheep and fish as a major export of the Faeroes.

Teitur is reminiscent of a young James Taylor or Cat Stevens. The tracks Sleeping With The Lights On, Poetry and Aeroplanes, Let's Go Dancing, and One and Only are the best showcases of Teitur's gentle style: Combining a simple but elegant guitar line and a gentle and emotive tenor, Teitur creates music perfect for a romantic evening meal or a easy Sunday drive. Teitur is not here to rock you, but he will bring you a sense of peace and perhaps a little longing for a past love.

Clocking in at under 40 minutes, Poetry and Aeroplanes is not entirely without drawback. Some tracks are just not as developed, lacking an urgency and energy and reminding us that Teitur is still in his musical infancy. Overall though, there is enough promise and talent here to make the total experience enjoyable, and leave us interested in hearing more from this budding Scandanavian singer."
Sublime Beauty
Chas Andres | Harvard, MA | 11/19/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I've heard Teitur compared to artists like John Mayer, but I have to say that, with all due respect, Mr. Mayer has NOTHING on Teitur.

That means no disrespect to John Mayer, who has some real talent hiding beneath his poppish sheen. Check out some of his earlier, acoustic work before 'Room For Squares' - it's really darn good.

But anyway, Teitur. This album is one of the greatest I've heard in the past four years, and it's one of the only new albums I've heard that I still listen to over and over again over a year after I purchased it. From the very beginning of "Sleeping with the Lights On", I am hooked - and I stay that way throughout the album. (with the exception of the uninspired 'Josephine' that acts as a real mood-killer.) You're the Ocean is an utterly phenominal song, and I recommend this album to anyone who likes driving at night and just letting the music take them along for the ride."
