Synopsis

Product Description
Founded by conductor and musicologist Juan Bautista Otero and stage producer Isidro Olmo, the period instrument Real Compana Opera de Camara specializes in the rediscovery of music from 18th century Spain and the Bourbon kingdoms of Italy. Their repertoire includes works by Neapolitan masters such as Domenico Scarlatti, Mariana Martinez and Martin y Soler, many of which were commissioned by the great castratro Farinelli. With superb performances and deluxe packaging, this new label is another shining example of the excellence and attention to detail that artist-owned companies have brought to the classical market.

CD Reviews

A lovely discovery............
Miss Kitty Litter | Little Rock, AR | 08/24/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"A most welcomed recording. Domènec Terredellas, it seems, is a gifted composer one wishes was recorded and performed more frequently. His music is felicitous, well-crafted and nobly performed by all soloists and the Reial Companyia Òpera de Cambra under the direction of Juan Bautista Otero.

Unfortunately, though, the enclosed Italian libretto (with translation into Spanish and French) is not also rendered into English.

A most lovely work then, full of originality, deeply deserving of greater currency."
