The Rich-Kid's Blues Continues

"Barely 60 seconds into this disc Terry Reid hits a "money-note" that not only justifies it's purchase but also serves to reinforce the "what mighta been" nature of his eclipsed career.
Culled from the live recordings Terry has saved of his California based appearances, these 1994 attributed tracks give an excellent overview of his varied styles.
Those who are already familiar w his past releases will not be disappointed. "The Voice" with it's vamps, phrasings, inflections & money-notes is there for you to enjoy & renew your love affair with.
The reworked "Speak Now" raver entitled "Secrets" opens the disc. It's a solid hit single w a yodeling hook that just begs for Shania Twain to cover-- tho given Reid's luck it'd just be stolen outright.
Speaking of covers, Reid's reputation as a foremost song stylest is self evident on "One Night With You". This chestnut, better known in it's Elvis treatment, is returned to it's origional rnb roots & remians a staple of his latter-day live growl'n n shout'n sets.
"Hong Kong" is a song that is reverently spoken of on message boards & finds it's first recording here on this disc. It has a "Driver" era vibe & an Asian tinted delicacy that would lend itself to being a marvelous studio recording. Those familiar with his self-penned material know that Terry is a writer of quality.
It's a true pity that the tracks on this live disc are 10 yrs old & only recently being released, but that's show biz I guess & nothing out of the ordinary given Reid's career. Nevertheless, when I last saw him perform in Los Angeles 2002, Terry still had the power, still had the glory & made my trip of 3000 miles well worth it."

"I've always liked Terry Reid's music and this is just about the only available documentation of what his live shows must have been like.
If you want to actually *see* Reid playing live, try to find a copy of the DVD 'Groupies'. It's a downbeat documentary about groupies in the early 70s, and the absolute highlight of the disc is the live performances by Reid."
You really can't miss with Terry Reid

"Gee, it's a real shame to have to say this , but , i will. I've been a Reid fan ever since i bought "River", on good old-fashioned vinyl in the early 70's ...."sEED OF mEMORY" is undisputedly , a mega-classic!!!Read the reviews here & decided to buy it...i feel somehow let down ..it's like a Peter Frampton album ..o.k. , but not the Greaaat Terry Reid i know & truly love!!!..Hong Kong being the only track that really hit me!!Come on , Terry, let us have a studio album like "River"/"Seed of " again!!!!!Looking forward to seeing him LIVE, in Manchester this Nov.!!!!!!!!!!Quite a good album, but certainly NOT great!!"
