"I own the original Steeplechase 1976 LP. It seems very diffult to get the CD version at a reasonable price. Anyway, it is probably one of the best record by pianist Tete Montoliu who unfortunalely died a few years ago. There are only three cuts on the record but they represent 40 minutes of extraordinary music by a great classic trio. The virtuosity of Montoliu's playing is absolutely amazing. The bass player (N.h.O. Pederson) is also exceptionnal on this record, with some awesome solos. The sound of this recording session is top quality. If you can afford the Japanese import CD version, go for it without hesitation, it is a hidden treasure in jazz music."

"The previous review sums up what I feel about Tete and his trio. I do not exaggerate when I say there is not a finer piano trio in jazz history. Don't think because Tete is a Spaniard, and NHOP is Danish that you will find a more swinging, hard bop jazz trio than this. They will blow you away with their interpretations of numbers such as "What's New", "Lush Life"' etc. This is one of 4 essential Tete trio dates recorded for Steeplechase. See my reviews of the others: "Tootie's Tempo" also recorded at the same time as this recording, and 2 equally great recordings by the same trio from 1974 :"Tete" and "Catalonian Fire." Get all 4."
