Product DescriptionThe Tex Beneke Orchestra was first billed as The Glenn Miller Orchestra with Tex Beneke when Glenn's widow, Helen, reformed the band in 1946. Tex was the tenor sax and singing star of the Miller civilian band. Major Miller who conducted the Army Air Forces Band in the United States and Britain during World War II had died in December 1944. The mammoth A.A.F. had included a twenty piece string section and French horn in its instrumentation. The Beneke band was similar but smaller in size. This CD features mainly love songs and is subtitled Twenty Five 20th Century Songs Of Love.
