CD Reviews

Gypsy acid folk at it's finest
Sujoy Chakravarty | Dallas, TX | 09/07/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"It's a pity that the Muse do not exist anymore...their second inprint album is actually a more mature work than "Sweet Things"...also folkier...the wistful "Ain't Nobody" is one of Nathan Moore's finest efforts...the title track as well as the very kind "movin'by lovin'" are political staements that do not fall short artistically..."Waiting" and "Broken Open" reveal the glorious dichotomy that is Aimee Curl...fragile and vulnerable yet somehow so strong..."Plastic Pony" sounds Dylanesque but not slavishly imitative...there is also a surprise in store...but I ain't tellin'...git your own copy and find out fer yerself...all in all these guys are light years ahead of their contemporaries lyrically and classifying them as just another "jam rock" band (as they have been by the music press)is insulting to their collective prowess...and their humanism...when Aimee sings"All I know is if you love anything at all, you're best off loving it now" you know exactly where she's coming from..."
