"Excellent CD recordings of the soft, sensual instrumentals from the 1960s. Phil Bodner's interpretations and musical leadership leaves you wondering if there really is a heaven to go to when you die. Because the music cajoles the ears, softens the edges of your day and allows you to believe you are comfortable, and at peace with the world. Heaven is coming out of the horns straight to your ears in the present. I bought every Brass Ring LP album each time I could find a new one in the late `60s and early 70s and they received a lot of play. Special thanks to Collector's Choice Music for putting this great music on CD. It's so nice to be able to listen now without the pops and clicks on my old vinyl. I bought all 3 CDs availiable and have been rewarded. If you're too young to remember the '60s soft sounds this double album CD would be a terrific way to acquaint yourself with the best of the best."

"I heard the Brass Ring's "Flight of the Phoenix" several times on the entertainment channel on a United flight from Honolulu to Los Angeles in the late 1960s and never forgot what a great sound they had. Now here they finally are on CD 40 years after their heyday and the music holds even better than I remembered. The liner notes are excellent - who knew that pianist Dick Hyman was the keyboarder for the Brass Ring? These guys swing!"

"I have the original album, but it is worn, and I saw that it was now on CD, and was glad to see it on Amazon.
I now enjoy the CD while I am going to and from work."

"The Phoenix Love Theme is simply one of the most beautiful songs ever written. This is the first song I ever heard by the Brass Ring. Right away I was hooked! I like their sound, it's different from anything. A new 60's style Perez Prado... Sergio Mendez done by orchestra... I just can't describe it, you'll just have to listen by yourself. This disc is crammed with fantastic, cheerful songs from the 60's. One wrinkle--you will notice that on the two albums there are duplicate songs, so in a sense you get just a little bit less for your money. But what you get is priceless, and find me another album which can make you happy by the third song, even when your wife came back! My favorite Herb Alpert album is almost as good as this."
Great stuff!!! Different Version of "Bahama Shuffle"!

"My dad had the Brass Ring/Guantanamera LP, and played it often when I was little. I loved this album then and still do! Great stuff here. BUT!!! The old LP that my dad had has a very different version of BAHAMA SHUFFLE than what is on this cd. And I can find no references to that other version, or that there even was another version. Every track on the old LP is identical to this cd, except that one. And to me, the one I grew up with, and am familiar with is far better than this one. It's a different tune, and starts out with a flute, or fife, as if to mimick a bird singing. And gradually it builds to a big brassy finale. I'd love to find a copy with that other Bahama Shuffle on it, since I've lost the original LP my dad had. Even so, having said all of this, you can't go wrong with this cd. This stuff is wonderful, and you'll find yourself humming the various tunes all day. I love his take on CALIFORNIA DREAMIN and especially GUANTANAMERA. On that track I can visualize palm trees swaying in the evening sunset. I highly recommend this!!!"
