"Electronica" equals remixes galore!

(4 out of 5 stars)
"Electronica shows a very energetic style for The Echoing Green, expressing music in a powerful and meaningful way. In the credits, Joey Belville states that this album was intended to expose fans (new and old) to remixes of favorite songs (I've only been listening to The Echoing Green since 1998, so I hadn't heard too many of them before purchasing this album), as well as writing a new one. Out of my limited knowledge of The Echoing Green, I rated a four because of the energy that emanates from this album. "RE:COSMIC" is the only remix that I am familiar with, and a good one at that! The only thing I could ask for in it would be the complete lyrics, instead of the partial lyrics looped continuously throughout.
I'm not sure if this is the intent of the song, but I found "Don't They Know it's Christmas" to be almost comical (in a good way, I listened to it late at night and was writing out the lyrics so I could understand them, and almost fell out of bed laughing). The depiction of the happy, democratic US versus the bleak existence of African citizens seems out of place with the upbeat pop melody. For older Echoing Green fans, probably a great bet, for newer fans, maybe not as great, but still classic Echoing Green style and innovation."
