Led by 27-year old vocalist/guitarist Vyasa Dodson, The Insomniacs now return with their sophomore effort featuring an explosive mix of infectious originals and expertly chosen covers augmented by special guests Al Blake (Hollywood Blue Flames) and Mitch Kashmar on harmonica, Joel Paterson (Jimmy Sutton's Four Charms) on pedal steel guitar, and Jeff Turmes on tenor & baritone sax. Nice Contemporary Blues CD

"This is a fairly new band on the blues scene and this effort on the Delta Groove label captures their sound quite nicely. There is a lot of variety here from slow burners to high heat and lots of electricity in this band. What I appreciate was that they don't overplay - the solos are appropriate and efficient without being overblown or excessive. Tasteful guitar, solid vocals, nice B-3 organ work and some tasty harp. Overall, a rather good listen and a good sophomore effort for this new band. Look out for these guys in the future. Recommended."

"The singer's approach is a lot more effective on the macho stuff & lighthearted lyrics than on the "heartbreak" stuff. As these guys build a repetoire of tunes that reflect their strengths, they'll be a top act."
