"Beginning with All Mod Cons and ending with Sound Affects The Jam made three amazing albums in a row. Sandwiched in the middle, is the beautiful "Setting Sons". Excellent, creative, variety filled, and serious all easily describe this album. Though Paul Weller would later malign this album for it's slicker production(an odd accusation after forming the Style Council), his only true downfall here was trying to make this a full on concept album. That aside, the album features some of the band's best song writing as well as a triumphant experiment at an orchestral song, "Smithers Jones". The album is easily one of the band's best and a wonderful addition to any collection. This particular release re-creates the original album packaging down to minute details. Besides the usual slipcase packaging, the manufacturers actually went as far as embossing the soldiers as well as the roses on the back of the album. The most extreme attn, to detail is paid to the track listing. There is actually a real sticker (just like on the original)listing the tracks, rather than printing them on the package. wow."
