Synopsis

Album Description
Limited Edition. 180 Gram Vinyl. 12 tracks from The Kinks' 1971 album which went to # 100 in the US. The album is named after the Muswell Hill area of London, where band leader Ray Davies and guitarist Dave Davies grew up and where the band formed in the early 1960s. The album is a wide-ranging collection of Ray Davies compositions which focus on the frustrations and stresses of modern life. Davies had addressed this theme in many previous songs, but it reached maturity on this album and forms a unifying theme.

This album alone could be The Kinks Greatest Hits

(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Kinks finest album. Ray Davies makes you FEEL his lyrics through his drunken cry. Nothing hits harder than listening to "Alcohol" the morning after a night of one too many drinks. Overall the album has a much more bluesy/folksy/southern rock feel to it than their other albums, but Dave Davies guitar playing is much more raw, almost flawed, which just adds to the amazing atmosphere this album contains."
