This new release by the darkwave/electronic duo of Summer Bowman and Roger Fracé weaves an ethereal world of music and visuals, as playful, dark and enchanting as the fairy realms that appear on the cover. Featuring intense, sorrowful, almost operatic yet ghostly female vocals, the band's fourth release explores a more European baroque, neo-classical sound yet still retains the darkwave aspects that helped defined the band's previous albums. Out of the Mists engages the listener with thirteen delightful and powerful tracks. From the bombastic, instrumental opening of "Fates and Furies" which leads to the mysterious "Intrigue", and through to the album?s closing on the neo-romantic opus "Fade", we are treated to a variety of powerful, dark styles that show the duo?s true reach and breadth. The album?s dark acoustics of "Valentine" and "Every Thing She Is" are embellished only by the seductive and rhythmic elements of "The Unaware", "Rusty Haloes" and "Her Face". From the lovely a cappella harmonies of "Oh Dear" to the dramatic gothic darkwave of "Failure" and "Radiant", and through to the emotional onslaught of "Wasted Time" and "Never Again", the album continues to blend multiple layers of melodies and movement that draw you into a hidden, other realm.
