Really the Best of the Best

"I'm not too sure why this and three other New Christy Minstrels albums were all released on CD at the same time, but golly - who's complaining? I bought this album many years ago, and it remains one of the true favourites in my record collection. How nice it is now to listen to those same songs without the familiar but unwelcome popping and clicking associated with overplayed vinyl records. This magical CD transports the listener on a great fun tour of the world in the NCM's own inimitable style, with most of the original album songs well known to everyone. As with the other three CD's recently released, this one features a number of bonus tracks, and when you are talking about the New Christy Minstrels you are talking about a bonus indeed! Back in the 1960s an entrepreneurial and highly-talented singer/songwriter named Randy Sparks brought together some of the most gifted names in folk music to form this truly amazing ensemble, who were regular guests on such contemporary shows as "Hootenanny" and "The Andy Williams Show." Their vivacity and talent, and the richness of their songs and music established them as one of the most sought-after groups in the nation. This is the one album to buy if you just want to sit back, relax, and allow waves of wonderful nostalgia to carry you on a magic carpet ride around the world with the much-loved sound and incredible talent of this amazing group of people."

Never In A Million Years

"I never thought this album and their others would ever make it to CD - never in a million years - this brings back memories when my folks had this album in the mid 60's and i would listen along, just for the fun of it becoz they were songs I'd never heard before - i believe listening to this album kept my mind open to all sorts of music when i was young. These are international folk songs collected from around the world and done in the New Christy Minstrels style - from what I have read about them, some people did not like their style of folk but it was the only style I had heard up to that point - I fell in love with both Karen Gunderson and Ann White's voices as a young boy, and I still enjoy them to this day."
