Synopsis

Album Description
The New Creatures began as a teenage punk trio in Dayton, Ohio circa 1981. When the nucleus of the band, guitarist Greg Demos (who appears later in the never ending history of rock as the striped pants guy in Guided By Voices) and bassist Bill Hustad, moved to Columbus to attend college, the band paired it?s early 60?s mod meets mid-western garage punk leanings with a notable psychedelic sound. The move also precipitated a drummer change with the addition of Girly Machine's Dana Marshall (who later played with Scrawl). Yet somehow, Don Thrasher still appeared as the band?s pounder for the "Crawl, Walk and Roll" tape from 1986, the "Good Old Days" 7" from the same year, and the "Rafter Tag" LP from 1987 complete with guest vocals from Mr. Pollard himself. Greg, Bill, and Dana also performed in the original Robert Pollard Band."Penelope Flowers" comprises the band?s last recordings, never before available until now, this time without Don, as well as a rocking late live performance, all compiled by Bill. After the band?s demise in 1988, Bill recorded with a couple Columbus outfits, most notably Plastic Factory and Medicine Wheel. Greg and Don have continued to record as 3 Dream Bag.
