A Topflight Tour of Late Renaissance Music!

(5 out of 5 stars)
"This joyful rendition of Arbeau's "Orchesographie" is a splendid introduction to the music of the 16th Century. Many of you will recognize some of the music, which has graced the soundtracks of many films and such brilliant TV productions as "Elizabeth R". Using all original instruments, the arrangements are imaginative and varied, and both seasoned connoisseurs and neophytes will be delighted with the performances. A must-have album for any afficionado of late Renaissance/early Baroque music, beautifully recorded in the bargain. Some of the movements, such as the pavanes and a number of the delightful Branles (pronounced "brawls"!) are simply wonderful. Most highly recommended."
