Product DescriptionThe Now Generation is best known to record collectors for their late 60 s and early 70 s dime store, sound alike LPs with the campy cover photos. But behind this rather unassuming façade were some of Nashville s heaviest hitters. The group was originally conceived by songwriter Bobby Russell. Russell was signed to Spar Productions to make sound alike 45s for their Hit Records label. The group featured the cream of Nashville s session players and the album features a veritable who s who of the young hot studio musicians in Nashville at the time. In 1969, a young songwriter by the name of Jimmy Buffett moved to Nashville hoping to break into the music business. Buzz Cason heard some of his songs and decided to produce him and brought him into the Now Generation fold so that Jimmy could make enough money to keep Body and Soul together until Cason could land him a recording contract. Mac Gayden remembers taking a break from recording one day and as they looked out over Music Row, Jimmy wondered aloud whether Mac thought he could make it in Nashville. Mac told him to be patient and hang in there, little did they know!
