The pHormula is a three man entourage of overtime-working Hip Hop artists. They have three emcees: E.T., Philosophy and Alphamatic. The pHormula is self described as, Ear opening Hip Hop with enthralling lyrics over phenomenal beats which raises your fists, touches your heart and ignites artistic passion. Their sound is catchy, but not commercial and conscientious, but not preachy. The pHormula strives to create a style that symbolizes the ancient law of originality. The formula for this law is, There is No Formula, hence the title of their latest project, No Formula. The pHormula has been doing shows in the Eugene/Portland, Oregon area for the past 5 years performing at every major venue in the area. They have opened for countless groups including KRS-1, Atmosphere, Capadonna of Wu-Tang, Saul Williams, The Pharcyde, People Under the Stairs, The Game, Andre Nicotina and many other groups. In addition to live performances the pHormula has four albums; the latest and best is No Formula. This album is a masterpiece. All the songs fit together seamlessly, while still offering the listener an array of sounds as seen in the politically charged track, Rise Up, the laid back track;We Get Around, and the hard hitting track, Take Back Da Club. In addition, this year The pHormula is releasing 3 solo albums; E.T.'s Phone Home, Philosophy's pHilo 101 and Alphamatic's M.U.S.I.C. Although the pHormula currently is making music in the Northwest, they are not originality from the Northwest. All three emcees were born in the notoriously windy city Casper, Wyoming and have been living in the Eugene area for 6 years. E.T.(Examine the Truth), a.k.a. Aaron J. Martin, and Philosophy, a.k.a. Gabriel Sechrist are brothers. Alphamatic, a.k.a. Cody Hall, is the youngest member of the pHormula and also spent some years living in Olympia, Washington.
