CD Reviews

Great music, almost great packaging
Allan Tong | Canada | 01/26/2010
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Anyone reading this will want to know if it's worth upgrading their existing Police box from the original narrow (24x12cm) book edition to this coffee table edition. Answer: probably not. I bought it because I had all the original albums in analog form and wanted everything in one package. In my case, yes this was a deal. However, I have a caveat to offer: the book could have been produced better.

Sure, it's sturdy and a pleasure to flip through, but the weakness are the photos. Some are blown up from the smaller box set and look dull and blurry. That detracts from the rest of the packaging which is handsome. If Earbook is demanding you shell out substantial more this edition then they should've got everything right, not almost everything.

Upshot: great music, good idea, but so-so photos amounts to 4/5 stars and not a perfect 5/5."
