Synopsis

Album Description
The Radiators From Space are a legendary Irish band, originally formed in 1976 in Dublin and consisting of Philip Chevron (who was later to perform with the Pogues), Pete Holidai, Steve Rapid, Jimmy Crashe and Mark Megaray. They signed to Chiswick Records in 1977 and released two albums, "TV Tube Heart" in 1977 and "Ghostown" in 1979. The latter received critical acclaim, but failed to sell well and the band disbanded in 1981. Radiators songs have been recorded by Christy Moore ('Faithful Departed') and Mary Coughlan ('Kitty Rickets'). The band reunited in 2004, with a slightly different lineup (Crashe and Megaray left the band and were replaced by Cait O'Riordan and Johnny Bonnie) and the shortened name The Radiators. Following a one-off concert, they formally reunited and signed to the 625 label, through whom they released two new EPs: "The Television Screen" (2004) and "The Summer Season" (2005). A new bass player, Jesse Booth, joined the band in February 2006. "Trouble Pilgrim" is the band's third album and originally appeared on the 625 label.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"You should not miss TROUBLE PILGRIM--it's as close to perfect as an album can get.

It's the band's third album, a stunning successor to their classic GHOSTOWN (also a must-have!) If you like real rock-'n' roll with incredible guitar, great bass and drums, and superb vocals, this album will give you all that. Plus, the lyrics, whether about romantic relationships, the war in Iraq (or any war, really), justice, humanity, faith, Joe Strummer and far more, are real, touching, and intelligent.

Philip Chevron and Pete Holiday wrote the songs (and sing all but one of them) with great backup vocals that do far more than most back-ups to enhance the mood and meaning of the songs. Anita Bonnie's alternately rough and sweet voice adds a perfect touch to Chevron and Holidai whether they're singing of love gone wrong or the attack on the Twin Towers. Then there's Steve Rapid's "The Concierge"--wonderfully creepy and evil.

The band has added synthesizer, horns, tin whistle, and glockenspiel, believe it or not, to add a complexity to the hard rock of some songs and the delicacy of others. It all melds, and each time you hear the album, you see why these touches work so well.

Get a bunch of these as presents. Your friends will love you for it."
