Album Description

2008 digitally remastered two CD set containing a pair of albums from Felix Cavaliere and the Rascals: Peaceful World (1971) and Island Of Real (1972), both originally released on Columbia Records. As The Young Rascals, the band had enormous singles chart success on Atlantic Records, and their move to Columbia was more album-orientated. These recordings, sadly, were to prove the last for the band, though founder Felix Cavaliere went on to a solo career. Comes housed in a slipcase with extensive liner notes. 25 tracks. BGO.

Amazing musicianship and atmosphere

"The Columbia-era Rascals (1971/72) sounded little if anything like the Atlantic-years hitmakers (1965-70). Yes, we miss Eddie Brigati and Gene Cornish greatly, but if you can separate your expectations and open your mind, it can be filled with hundreds of moments of musical brilliance and excellence. More jazz-oriented now, the band opens up and ventures into areas they never got to tread in the 60's. ALL the players are MONSTERS. Dino Danelli is one of the greatest drummers..ever..EVER. Felix is singing amazingly, as usual.He basicly wrote and produced both (all three) albums. Buzzy Feiten is one of the hottest, genius guitarists ever as well, and he contributes a few excellent tracks as a songwriter (Icy Water and Jungle Walk among them). Robert Popwell is a solid, funky and fluid bass player. These albums are underrated classics to those "in the know". A treasure of great music for those wise or lucky enough to explore them.Sound quality and presentation is tops. Annie Sutton (stunning and powerful Joplin-esque ability) and Molly Holt (Warwick-like lead vocal on IOR's "Echoes") are the backing singers. Do yourself a favor and check it out!"
