"Larry Redhouse is one of America's finest jazz pianists, comparable to Joe Sample as an acoustic pianist. His sense of timing is impeccable. Of course, I'm a little biased since the Naomi of "Naomi's Dance" happens to be my daughter. She used to sit on Larry's lap and play piano when she was only 7 months old. She's now 22 years old and also writes and plays piano in her father's footsteps. The Redhouse Family was greatly influenced by such groups as Weather Report, Lenny White, and George Duke. They can do the Straight Ahead stuff, but they are also rooted in Funk Fusion and Latin Jazz as well. How proud we Tucsonans are to have such fabulous jazz musicians come out of our town, and they all knew each other growing up, jazz greats such as: Brian Bromberg, Eric Johnsen,
Diane Shurr, and the Redhouse brothers and sisters. Check The Redhouse Family Band out! And look for them in some upcoming jazz festivals. They put on quite a show with Native dances and flute and drum playing.
It's not just a performance, but a crash course entitled, Native American Culture 101! "Urban Indian" is wonderful, real soundtrack material for our visions and dreams."
