CD ReviewsGreat music, sub-par production STEVEN SMITH | GARDEN GROVE, CA USA | 06/04/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "I'll keep this one short. The Stylistics deserve 5 stars for this compilation of their great music, but I had to give this CD 4 stars. This is because I don't think the producers of this CD had access to all of the true master tapes. A few of the tracks have background hiss. I find this unacceptable with the technology that is out there today. The Stylistics, one of the best and most influential R&B groups of the 70's, deserve a better presentation if you are going to make a "best of" CD.I am one of the many fans out there that is tired of seeing there is not a complete, first rate, CD compilation out there representing the entire spectrum of their recording career. If you can, I recommend you buy all of their individual releases on CD as opposed to one of the compilations." Betcha By Golly Wow Anomaly | United States | 11/28/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "What a great group from the 70's. This is REAL talent. Their arrangements are so beautifully orchestrated, lyrics so deep that this group transcends time. The lead singer's voice is timeless. So deeply sensitive and emotional. So sorely missed in this new day and age of meaningless noise and racket from so many of today's shallow pop performers." Stop,Look And Listen To This CD S. Howard | Orange,N.J | 11/03/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "During the 60s and 70s we had our share of great r&b groups like The Moments,The Spinners and The Temptations just to name a few. And one of the best of the r&b groups was the Stylistics. With the smooth and mellow voice of lead singer Russell Thompkins the Stylistics shot to fame. Guided by the creative arrangments by Thom Bell. And the songwriting team of Mr.Bell and Ms Creed. A pairing that would come to an early end by the untimely death of Ms Creed.A Lot of the songs on this cd were written by Bell and Creed and is a testimony to their great work. Now back to the Stylistics.I've been a fan of the Stylistics very since high school. And I've been listening to their music for a lot of years. So I was happy to come across this cd.It as some of their best songs on it.My favorite tracks are 2,4,6,7,8,9 and 14.But their are some tracks I don't like these tracks are 10,12,13 and 15.There are a lot of Stylistics songs that are better than these but did not make the cd.That is why I'm giving this cd a four star review.I think these songs came out during the diso era. The Stylistics to me recorded their best work with Thom Bell. The Stylistics like so many other r&b groups didn't do all that well in the diso era.But the Stylistics still manage to record a few hits during that time. And some of them are on this cd like tracks 1,3 and 11.So in conclusion I highly recommend this cd for all Stylistics fans new and old.So if you are thinking about starting a Stylistics collection this cd is a good place to start.P.S.There's one Stylistics song that came out during the diso era. That I really want to hear again. The song is 'Frist Impression' I can't find it anywhere. And it's not on this cd."
