"Well, let's start of by saying...these guys are the greatest...not only do you get a great vibe from them at live shows but they entertain you to the fullest. Now the reason you need to understand them at the human level,is to understand the raw emotion and truth that went into this EP.As a fan of their music,I was quick to draw on the energy they put into every show, from a run down guitar-hero looking stage to one of the best venues ive ever been to.They have known heartache and pain, tragedies and sorrow, but still they refused to let that get the best of them. All the love and determination shines in the EP.With tracks like "How to Build an Empire",The Word Alive channels these feelings through very well placed guitar riffs and drums galore.Dusty on the keyboard is a magician, and Zack and Tony P. shine as dual guitars rip every last doubt about this band to shreds.Nick deepens the tracks with his great personality and his bass playing, and Tony Aguilera coordinates the rhythm of every song with his drums.Telle, the lead singer,is a natural born leader. With heartache and pain,Telle put the pen to paper and made it his mission to not allow anything to stop his success with this band. Now signed to Fearless Records, which also houses bands such as The Maine,Alesana,Motionless in White, and A Skylit Drive, they have now added a force in The Word Alive. This EP may be a short 6 songs long but none of the featured tracks is a let down."Quit While You're Ahead","The Only Rule is There Are no Rules" and "Battle Royale" stand out as the band's true new singles. The other 3 tracks "How To Build an Empire","Casanova Rodeo",and "Inviting Eyes" are all some of the band's original pre-Telle songs but he came in and took them in as his own.All in all..."Empire" reminds us all of what it takes to succeed,it gives everyone a sense of art that has been lacking lately in the music industry.A true breath of fresh air.If you are into Chiodos,Emarosa, and other bands such as Dance Gavin Dance and Scary Kids Scaring Kids, this is the band to watch out for. After being in an accident involving a deer, heartbreaks,a fallen bumper, and dealing with illnesses which induced a blood vomiting spell,it is great to say i've known the guys for a while now, always real and always human, and this is the outcome...go buy The Word Alive-Empire NOW!"
