"This anthology set is a compilation of the live albums "Love Is A Ghost" [CD 1] and "Retribution Over The West World" [CD 2]. Both are great. The sound quality of the second album is outstanding and is the better of the two. What's interesting is that there's 15 years between the concerts so you can really hear the change in style between the two CDs. The first was recorded in 1981 and has the classic uncontrolled voice of Kirk Brandon, while the second was in 1996 with a more controlled Brandon but with a more full and accessible sound.
I also thought it was interesting in that the 1996 concert, even though it was recorded after Brandon's later band 'Spear Of Destiny', he still brought back much of the punk element that made of Theatre Of Hate (ToH) stand out from Spear Of Destiny.
As with any band that has any link to the original punk movement, live albums such as these are the only way to listen to the music, as they completely blow away the studio albums with their raw energy.
"Retribution Over The West World" is still available as a stand-alone live album, but I'd recommend spending a few extra $$$ to get this anthology. CD 1, "Love Is A Ghost", was recorded in '81 when ToH was in operation and has the original (if somewhat off-the-wall) sound that made ToH unique."
