CD Reviews

Jimbo Jones | Las Vegas, NV | 04/20/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Japanese cd is the one to buy as it includes a bonus 2nd live cd with 10 tracks the first cd has 19 tracks which is the same track listing as the other versions of the album. The 10 live tracks were recorded at various venues between 77 and 83 the following is a track listing fro the bonus cd

1Bad Reputation

2.Opium Trail Tracks 1 & 2 recorded at Seneca College Field House Toronto 28/10/77

3.Are you ready

4.Dear Miss lonely Hearts Tracks 3 & 4 recorded at Dublin's RDS Hall 7/6/80

5.Chinatown recorded at Hammersmith Odeon, London 29/5/80

6.Got To Give It Up Recorded at Dublin's RDS Hall 7/6/80

7.Emerald

8.Killer on the Loose

9.The Boys Are Back In Town

10.Hollywood Tracks 7-10 recorded Live at Britain 1983

I think the live disc is fantastic and features some amazing guitar work. Thin (Tin) Lizzy sound superb live. Remember if you track down the Japan issue make sure its the 2 cd pressing with the live tracks. I am on the look out for Lizzy's main studio albums as well as live and dangerous. Its a shame Phil died they were a dam fine band"
Great music from an underrated band
Jimbo Jones | 05/24/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have been a Philophile for about 10 years and it is fantastic to hear the great songs that drove my youth. Thin Lizzy is one of the greatest band ever conceived and this CD just proves their high standing in the pantheon of great bands. Phil's lyrics, Scott Gorham's smooth guitar licks, Brian Robertson's driving string strumming, Gary Moore's hard string plucking and Brian Downey's muscle wrenching drumming all exhibit themselves in this fantastic CD. Music lovers of any types should be driven to listen to this work of magic. The songs range from the sublime of Wild One to the driving of Thunder and Lightning. This album is a constant in my CD player as it should be of any music lover. Never underestimate the power of the Thin."
Best Thin Lizzy Compilation
J. E FELL | Carterville, Illinois United States | 02/10/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This 2 cd set is the best Thin Lizzy compilation at his point. Where is the boxed set with rare b-sides? It contains the singles from all versions of the band on the first disk. Fans of rock guitar will enjoy the fretwork from the dual guitar attack from the likes of Eric Bell, Gary Moore, Scott Gorham, Brian Robertson, Midge Ure, Snowy White & John Sykes. The second disc contains live rarities. Some of these are outtakes from the great "Live And Dangerous" lp. A drawback is that some of the songs overlap with the ones on the first disk but are different versions. However, some of the live tracks are songs which I consider essential and were not on the first disk. The song selection is an improvement over the "Dedication" cd. This is a good introduction to one of the most underrated and highly influential rock bands of the seventies. If you like this collection, I highly recommend the "Live And Dangerous" cd as it has my favorite line-up with Scott Gorham & Brian Robertson on guitars."
