"I agree with reviewer Chris Jenkins that Mignon is a beautiful opera. Yet, despite its beauty, it inexplicably -- and, in my opinion, unjustly -- lies outside the standard repertory. I love this opera; it is on my personal top ten list -- ahead of many far more famous operas. If you are an opera lover looking for a hidden treasure please give Mignon a try.
Incidentally, the composer's name was Ambroise Thomas, not Thomas Ambroise, as stated in an earlier review."
Poorest sound quality ever

"I myself sang in the chorus of this opera in New York City recently, and just wanna keep a CD recording for myself. After weeks of delay I finally got this CD, but it was so disappointing. The sound quality of the recording was the poorest I've ever heard. It could be worse than anything you could hear through a radio station when you are in the middle of a desert. And through the poor sound quality, somehow the lyrics didn't sound like French to me. Sorry, it is too unclear and I totally don't know what's going on."
