Synopsis
Album Description The upcoming album is not only catchy "can?t-get-it-out-of-your-head " tracks, like the single, "So Far So Good", but this record is a deep account with many songs based from singer Ian Thornley?s personal life. Aside from this fans will hear famed "Big Wreck" former head Ian Thornley, at his best from harder riffs, like the track, "Falling to Pieces" to the slow and melodic rhythm of, "Lies That I Believe." CD ReviewsIan Thornley moves onward and upward David Johnson | 11/24/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "I found Thornley before I heard of Big Wreck. Listening to Ian's former band, I heard great potential - good musicianship, catchy songs, and probably the best rock vocalist since Chris Cornell. I've fallen in love with Big Wreck since, but notice that they had a tendency toward long, drawn out, and often over produced songs - several verging on forgettable.
Not so with this album. Ian Thornley basically cut the fat, made melody king, and pushed his shockingly unique and versatile voice to the front of the mix. Most of the album pushes into post-grunge with some slow, plodding grooves, but the riffs and melodies are fresh and exciting - if lacking the sprawling arrangements of Big Wreck. I disagree with other reviewers who say this is a step backwards for Ian Thornley. This album reflects an artist who has capitalized on his strengths, and minimized his weaknesses. Above all, it showcases a great guitar player, solid songwriting, and a voice that you simply can't get enough of. Bring on the sophomore release! Recommended for fans of: Soundgarden, King's X, Earthshine, Audioslave, STP, and Brother Cane." |
