"This is the best live TG release I've heard (if you don't count Heathen Earth). It's brutal. Your speakers will drill holes in your ears with the shrill high end "Devil's Gateway" cut. Ambient in parts like the menacing cut "Auschwitz", with it's slow echoed trumpet, bass and feedback swells....Rafters is the monster live recording of this unique group of audio heroes. If you are already a fan, then buy this NOW! If you are new to the group, then get the studio Cds first. Trust me; you'll be back for this one! Where is the rest of the live catalogue? I want them all!"

"This is a far better alternative to the 'official' "Mission of Dead Souls" album, if you want live Throbbing Gristle. Recorded at Rafters, Manchester, before a crowd that can clearly be heard in places to be rather hostile to the group and their music, this is a performance by TG on turf that usually seemed to bring out the vitriol in their sound far better than the audience to which they performed in San Fran. Audio here is raw as a scab, and the music is just as ear-wrenching. This was definitely evil music played in evil circumstances, and given who's playing, it makes it all the better. Having heard several live TG recordings, I'd have to say that this is perhaps the best, and it's very nice to have it available on CD, limited edition or not, and remastered from vinyl or not. Hell...when you think about it, the added surface noise could even be considered an _improvement_...just consider who we're talking about here..."

"Live Throbbing Gristle. Recorded December 4, 1980. Limited edition of 1000. This was originally released on vinyl. In fact, if you have a vinyl copy, you may be disappointed as the CD was cut from vinyl. Surface noise and all. (hence only 4 stars) Where are the master tapes? Regardless of the faint surface noise, this is still TG at their best. This performance is extremely powerful and engrossing. Definitive Industrial. Get it while you can."
