"Of the four works presented, the Sonata in D minor for Violin and the Cantate: Le Sommeil d'Ulisse, are my favorites. The Violin sonata is wonderful and shows the great gifts of Ms. Andrijeski, Ms. Montgomery and Ms. Morgan. Le Sommeil d'Ulisse shows Ms. Youngdahl's lovely soprano at its best. This is early music faithfully and authentically played and sung, as it would have been at the time it was written by the composers. It is wonderful, joyful music performed by gifted artists, each of whom is an established soloist, and who together are one of the very best ensembles that I have heard. The selections become more enjoyable to hear each time I listen.Cecilia's Circle has been performing together in concerts and as guest artists in residence at various colleges and universities for over 10 years. They will be performing as artists in residence at Michigan State University in early 2005. I look forward to hearing them again in person.People who have listened with pleasure to the works of Hildegard von Bingen performed by Sequentia will enjoy this CD as well. This is a work worth owning!"

"This beautiful Cd is an addition to any music library. It highlights the music of a woman composer who should be better known, Elizabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, a French Baroque composer. If you don't know the story of Judith, get introduced to a mighty strong woman! Incredibly agile singing by Janet Youngdahl and great ensemble playing. Go listen to it!"
