"This is one of Tiamats best albums and their most diverse. I hear a lot of comparisions to Pink Floyd. While I agree, I think this release is more inspired by Tiamat themselves. Melodic solo's fly with swirling keyboards. Hard-edged guitar's and deep warm vocals. As far as originality goes, no band has anything on Tiamat. I think this album, along with Judas Christ and Skeleton Skeletron are the best, but this album has a spark all its own. If you like bands like Type O Negative or The Cure but can delve into foreign territories(sitars, oboe's)then this album is for you. This is NOT commercial music. If you have heard of them consider yourself lucky. Fantastic album. Get it."

Haunting , atmospheric metal ?

"While I'm not a metalhead , I do enjoy some of the fine music of the metal world.I recently listened to this cd and is certainly one of a kind. It's like a haunting, soothing , melancholic, psycodellic , atmospheric feeling. I've heard Tiamat's other cd's which, although highly rated, lack the emotion and tension of this gem. I recommend listening to this cd in those moments when you want to sit alone, gaze at the heavens , feel the wind blowing in your skin and let your mind travel to a deeper kind of slumber..."

Underestimated

"I bought this cd over ten years ago, and just popped it in again having not paid attention to it for some time.



It has a timeless quality, and a darker version of Pink Floyd is not an unfair nor unwarranted comparison. I was a huge fan of industrial back when I bought this album, and it managed--not--to fit neatly into any given category of industrial or metal. It was too subtle really, for either category. Mood-wise, if anyone remembers Ministry's "Dream Song" from the "Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste" album, this whole album creates a melancholy reminiscent of that song, without the horror type theme.



It's incredibly atmospheric, and it sculpts a mood like no other cd in my collection. Very dreamlike. I can think of no other bands that sound like Tiamat... Katatonia (just a little bit) type-O (but nowhere near as deep and low as Peter Steele). They really achieved an unparalleled sound with this record and it belongs in your collection.



Now having rediscovered this great band I must mine the discography..."
