"I kind of just discovered Carolyn Leonhart and her husband Wayne Escoffery's music. They have collaborated on several CDs, in the past. I, however, did not become aware of them until I heard their cover of "Big Noise New York" on the radio one night and was blown away. The entire CD as far as I'm concerned is beautiful. Although I consider myself a jazz fan, I do not profess to be an expert. I am constantly discovering and listening to music from jazz artists of the past. However, I believe that to stay in the past does not do the music justice. Jazz, by it's very nature must progress and evolve. With artists like Carolyn Leonhart and Wayne Escoffery, both virtuosos of their respective instruments, I believe the music is in very good hands. As a side note, and I know this is going to sound EXTREMELY silly. I didn't find out they were married until recently. After listening to the CD, I loved the music so much that I couldn't help but think of a pick-up line commonly used in the old cartoons, and jokingly wondered if he used that line when he proposed to her. If you've ever seen any old cartoons, you have to be familiar with it. It's the one where the male cartoon character turns to the female cartoon character and says, "Come with me to the Casbah, and we'll make beautiful music together." Well, here's hoping this couple makes continues to make beautiful music together for a long time to come."
