Synopsis
Product Description TIM LEE 3 Good2b3 Good2b3 is Tim Lee's newest release with his band Tim Lee 3. The album from this Southern trio is a combination of narcotic ballads and faster, potent tunes. The songs are filled with dual vocals from Tim himself and Susan Bauer, who also plays bass. Rodney C. Cash (no relation, although you'd swear he was kin to W.S. Holland) rounds out the "3" on drums and percussion. The cd was recorded and mixed at WaveLab Studio in Tucson, Arizona, in February and November, 2007, by Chris Schultz and Craig Schumacher (Calexico, the Sadies, Los Lonely Boys, Neko Case). Striking the perfect balance between stomp and shimmer, longtime rocker, Tim Lee's new band TimLee3, steps out with a rousing rocker that recalls the roar of vintage Smithereens, the twang of Uncle Tupelo, and the straight out rock n' roll of the Sonics. This is indie southern rock that will appeal to fans of The Drive-By Truckers, Son Volt, and Whiskeytown. |
CD ReviewsBest CD I bought in 2008, no kidding, great rock/pop gems Indianpass | Atlanta | 01/11/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "This album is the best collection of great rock songs that I've heard in a long time. This one is a pure winner - everyone that I have turned on to this CD agrees with me. The songs are more agressive and rock-oriented than what I normally consider 'Paisley Pop' but there are big pure catchy riffs throughout - it is a blend of power-pop, Americana, Rock and some classic sounds that are not immediately identifiable but are yet somehow familiar. The tracks vary between heavy guitar-riffed music, almost drifty rock ballads (Just One More Time is a classic) and good-time fun music. The vocals shared by Tim and Susan Bauer Lee are perfect, such as on the second track, "Saving Gracie (..from herself)". There is some amazing guitar playing with artistic heavy riffs, rip-roaring stellar leads and the bass and drum rhythm are the most tightly bound that I've heard in a very long time. The song-writing is the whole package, the tunes, tones, meaning and timing of the words. It almost sounds easy for them to crank out what should be hit-songs one after another. There are at least four or five songs on this CD that should be major hits on college or AOR rock stations but regretably probably won't get the airplay they deserve. "Mile-long Midway" and "I Like it Like That" are so catchy and so down-right infectious, somebody should call the CDC. So buy this CD, it is just that good. And by the way, I just saw TimLee3 live backing up the Long Ryders at the EARL in Atlanta...their live shows are also great (the new songs were super by the way) and the TimLee3 are super-nice people to boot. They deserve to have more recognition, so raise your glasses to good music, buy this CD and support 'real' new music that matters."
