"Tito Beltran's 'Romantica', which I found in the old power plant culture house at Baltimore's Inner Harbor 4 years ago, is a ravishing exposition of a melting tenor striving at his best. What caused me to buy it was the fact that his repertory consists of 3 of Jussi Björling's Swedish favourites, 'Till Havs', 'Ack Värmeland, du sköna' and the originally Danish 'I de lyse nætter' (Swedish: 'Sommarnatt'), all sung in Swedish, his second native tongue. His tone rings beautifully, and apart from his at times overwhelming vibrato I find his version a refreshing and sympathetic alternative and artistically a parallel to Carlo Bergonzi: a humble artist who tells stories in song without overshadowing his art."
