"This album, like Switched On Bach by W. Carlos, is a pioneering synthesizer work.
I remember how amazing it sounded when it came out in 1974.
Listening to it now, I am impressed by the soulfulness of interpretation Tomita achieved with an unwieldy electronic instrument. (single-voice only, I believe; multitracked on analog tape! There's a photo of Tomita on the back cover that shows him surrounded by racks of electronic equipment.) Somehow, despite the slow, highly technical process of generating and recording this, he finds an expressive range from the ridiculous (Golliwog's Cakewalk) to the Sublime (Engulfed Cathedral).
Well worth a listen."
Brilliant!!

"This is what will always remain as good from the musically amazing 70's. So much good music and so little time. Check this out if you value innovation."

"DEBUSSY'S classical music done on analog synthesizers. The tape of this album is how i got addicted to this music. since i avidly listened to jean-michel jarre's electronic music and wanted to hear more similar sounds. then someone gifted me a tape of this. this was different than jmj. had never heard either debussy or Tomita before. had to get this cd version later and others. listen to it a few times and u will love it. the sounds of these synths can be reproduced in propellerheads reason software. the maelmstrom synth module."

"When you think of electronic music the name Tomita should be the first artist that comes to mind. I purchased his `Snowflakes Are Dancing' in the mid-seventies (it was released in '74) and it has remained one of my favorite albums (now owned on CD), electronic or otherwise, ever since. His amazing artistic expression of Debussy compositions as performed on synthesizer transport the listener into a realm of timeless beauty and otherworldly splendor.
There has been quite a profusion of beautiful electronic music since the release of `Snowflakes Are Dancing' but in my opinion this one is still by far the best. There is something special about this production, something that touches the listener on a deeply emotional level and elicits thoughts and feelings that make your listening experience a profound and highly personal experience. Listening to this CD now 34 years after its initial release it's easy to see where the genre of New Age music found its roots. Tomita was certainly a musician, innovator and visionary way ahead of his time.
`Snowflakes Are Dancing' is one of the essentials. My Rating: -5 Stars-."
