"It's a misnomer to claim this record represents "The Best" of Tommy Dorsey. How can any collection that makes this claim omit "Opus number 1," arguably Dorsey's greatest hit? All of the songs here are ballads, there are no up-tempo or swing inclusions which is baffling. In addition, these are *not* the original recordings! Instead of playing the standard (and superior) 1930's version of I'm Getting Sentimental Over You, this album throws on a sub-standard 1951 version of the song. What a disappointment. If you are sampling Dorsey records and you started off with this disc, you would get a completely erroneous impression of his body of work. Dorsey produced some fine ballads, but he was much more multi-faceted that than and could really swing. This record does not show that side of him, which is frustrating.Tommy Dorsey made some brilliant music in the 30's and 40's but you won't find it here. This is an inferior compilation of schmaltzy ballads and later recordings which just don't capture Dorsey's magic."

"Great muscic from a great era. My favorite is "I want to be happy cha cha". They don't make music like they useed to."
