"I wasn't originally going to buy this particular album. I was actually looking in my local CD stores for 'Edge of Insanity' or 'Maximum Security', but this particular album was the only one I could find, so I grabbed it anyway. Boy am I glad I did! This album absolutely blew me away with the opening song 'The Sage'. Tony's chops are amazing, and despite the blistering speed at which he is playing, he still maintains a definate sense of melody. Rather than simply soloing nonstop over a basic riff or melody, Tony creates the melody with his soloing. I also love the way in which he has incorporated some Jazz/Fusion into this album without sacrificing any of his Neo-classical freakishness. As a guitarist, Tony is one of my main musical influences, and this album gives a good broad introduction to his ability to play multiple styles, so do yourself a favour and buy this album. You won't regret it! Standout tracks: All of them, but especially 'The Sage', 'Oversea Evolution', 'Time Table' and 'Asturias'."

"Though this is not the best effort of Mr. MacAlpine, but stil he play the best ever. The standard of Mr MacAlpine playing is not quiet different from last Mr. MacAlpine album, Especially the Mr MacAlpine Piano Playing. In certain way i think there's such a good new direction musical influence, and that is the evolution, fusion. Mr. MacAlpine try to push the boundaries from neo classical to the different style. This album has great mixture neo classical thing and jazz, and the result is just good, not kind of boring album. If you die hard fans of Mr. MacAlpine shredding music, you should listen to this one. And You'll find out What is "The Evolution" of Mr. MacAlpine."
Musical excellence

"This is simply excellent. I really liked MacAlpine's first couple of albums, and for me, this was the album that brought back the Tony I knew and loved. This is certainly a little jazzier and less frantic than his earlier work, but it is well composed and performed. The textures here are rich and the playing is excellent throughout by all of the musicians. Tony Franklin on a fretless bass also puts in a strong performance here.Standout tracks here include "The Sage". If the CD just had that one repeated 10 times I would have felt like I got my money's worth but he was nice enough to include a few other songs. The rest of the album took a while to grow on me, but many of the songs pick up and become very cool. When I first listened to this, I thought it was good. After listening to it a few more times, it really sank in and I realized it was brilliant."
Incredible!!!

"tony macalpine's blend of neoclassical rock, and jazz fusion is amazing, he combines both on this cd so perfectly it's simply mind-blowing. the songs are always melodic and nice to listen to, and the great thing about macalpine is that he is as technically accomplished on the keyboards as he is on the guitar, or possibly better. standout tracks include the opening song "the sage", "futurism", and "eccentrist", but that does'nt mean that every song on this cd is'nt great. the classical pieces played on this cd are a treat also. so buy it, it's awesome!"
