"should one be praising the label FLARE, for at last bringing to CD
this long out of print RCA LP RECORD from 1956, well in fact NO!
you see, FLARE did not really master this release at all, what they have
done is to record the LP VINYL RECORD and apply suppressors to try and
eliminate the surface noise, seeing as the original performance was
captured on AUDIO TAPE, this so called remasted CD is a totally waste
of money if you have the LP record, another point I noted, is the lack
of expansion of sound, which could have been easily
overcome with the proper mastering, the liner notes also are a disappointment, FLARE have decided to reinvent the wheel, by redoing
the information and losing all the immediacy and excitement captured
by the original comments, that is leaving out the mention of the
on the spot recording setups that were needed for the nights historic
recording session, and to top it all off, they have used a stock photo
of Tony Martin taken when he was in his fifties, and not the terrific
photo on the cover of the original LP taken during performance with the
dancing girls in their beautiful blue outfits, Tony was 44 years old
at this time, if only Jasmine had done this release
