The orchestra opens with the music of such composers as Saint-Saëns, Darius Milhaud, Maurice Ravel, Eric Satie, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré. My Paris follows intermission. Songs arranged for symphonic orchestra by Peter Matz, one of the foremost musical director/arranger/composers in every medium of entertainment. He received three Emmy Awards for My Name is Barbra, The Sounds of Burt Bacharach and The Carol Burnett Show (during his 8-year engagement as the show s musical director), and a Grammy Award for Barbra Streisand s People album, among the five he arranged for her. He also had two Tony nominations, a Clio Award and an Academy Award nomination for the Streisand film, Funny Lady. Matz s original scores for more than 40 other feature films and television movies earned additional critical acclaim. He also arranged and conducted for such legends as Noel Coward, Marlene Dietrich, Bernadette Peters, Peggy Lee, Lena Horne, Bing Crosby, Liza Minnelli, and Tony Bennett. Peter Matz contributed arrangements and orchestrations to five annual Academy Awards telecasts. Tony Sandler s My Paris was the final project of the late Peter Matz.
