Unlike the growing legions of emcee?s who boast about their ?hood exploits--from behind the tinted windows of their new Lamborghini?s--Tragedy has always come off as a credible slum correspondent. Much like his old Intelligent Hoodlum persona, Tragedy can go from Dead Prez-ian politico with black nationalist leanings ("Walk Wit? Me (911)" to straight ruffian ("The Truth") quicker than a chart-topping emcee can launch a clothing line. On "Fall Back," the sonically-potent banger featuring fellow Queensbridge projects rep Havoc of Mobb Deep, it?s clear that Tragedy takes pride in his rare ability to "praise Allah, even though I play with a nine." Rather than switch up his sound for the pop charts like fellow QB rebel Noreaga, he hunkers down and brings that same raw uncut sound, this time provided by a slew of burgeoning boardsmen like Scram Jones (peep the catchy vocal samples on "Neva Die Alone Pt. 2"). While it wouldn?t have hurt to have a few Alchemist or Havoc beats sprinkled throughout, the last cut "Crying On The Inside"--a great introspective ode to his deceased mom--redeems those beat shortcomings. "Tragedy Khadafi's fourth album "Still Reportin" (2003) is a excellent release. Alot of people dont know much about Tragedy originally known as the Intelligent Hoodlum a member of Marley Marl's Juice Crew who has released three previous albums (Intelligent Hoodlum 1990, Tragedy: Saga of a Hoodlum 1993, and most recently in 2000 Against all Odds). Running in at fourteen tracks, guest appearances come from Havoc,Littles, Christ Castro, Rashida, Sha Self Capone and V-12. Tragedy is one of those slept on MCs who never really get there due in my opinion, I like how he has gotten less known but talented producers Booth, Scram Jones, Dart La, Sha Shelf, Ben and Abe, Just One to handle the production on this, and there production is impressive. I also like the fact that hes back to working with CNN again. Got the first track and title track, "Still Reporting'" on regular rotation on the moment, Khadafis dedication track for all the fallen soldiers is a great starter to the album, like the beat and sample to this one. "Code" feat Havoc and Littles is a solid three way collabration, Dart La produced "Hood" feat. Christ Castro, is laced with a sick beat, and is another memorable track. I had never heard of Christ Castro prior to this release and I like his appearances on this. Tragedy calms things down a bit on the relaxed "Hood Love" feat. Rashida a track dedicated to a real love, some rappers try to make tracks like this one and come off sounding corny, Tragedy does not, keeping his lyrics simple and ending up with a smooth Rap/R&B collabration track. Tragedy starts the "The Message" off introspectively by pointing out a fault of his in disrespecting some women in the past and leads into talking about the streets and industry. Tragedys lyrical content on Sha Self produced "Walk Wit Me" (911) is in depth, he talks about everything from the streets, to Hiroshima, Pearl Harbour, Geronimo Pratt, Bush and Bin Laden. "U Make Me" feat Capone, Littles & V-12, uses some sick horns, and V-12 (an artist I have never heard of) sings well on this track and later on "Can't Figure". Hardcore "The Truth" feat. Christ Castro is another good collabration, engaging to see fellow QB artist Nas lines mixed into it. Scram Jones produced "Crying on the Inside" closes off the album powerfully, a track Tragedy dedicates to his Mom who passed away. This is not an album to sleep on, highly recommend Tragedy Khadafi's "Still Reportin'"."

"Still Reportin is so hot....its one of those albums that is unforgettable. You know Trag's message is from the streets...but his pain is through the eyes of an astute, sensitive and intelligent artist. Check out "Hood feat. Christ Castro" - that should be this year's hood anthem if radio does what it should be doin. Also, "Crying On The Inside" shows Trag in a more vulnerable light, ...consistent with "Grand Groove" from his older album "Intelligent Hoodlum", and T.M. from his album "Against All Odds". What a talent."

"All hands down Trag is one of da illest to touch da M I! This Album as well as his previous work has been snoozed on by the "mainstream"! These fools that are so-called rhyming nowadayz need DIRE TUTORING. They lack the formula on how to approach a mic and straight up regurgitate on it such as Trag, the old Nas (Nasty), Half-a-Mil (R.I.P),Rakim, KRS,B.D.Kane and a host of other PROFESSIONALS. I will admit, I am from Coney Isle,Brooklyn, NYC and I love my borough, respect it and da whole nine, but when I hear da essence of true lyricism, I have to give it up. Trag you is a bad moe-foe, straight up. Keep rocking Lord. I recall back when this man along with his people Imam Thug would tear up the studio nonstop on da officail D.J.Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito show as well as Martin Moore and Mayhem back in 95-96 era. Half Man Half Amazing! Im rocking down in Va right now and beleive nothing but dat pure Hip Hop is pumped when I ride----
For real my people, if u feeling Trag, Half-A-Mil dropped two albums which have uninsatiably have been snoozed on, as well as NonPhixion, these cats spit fire as well!

"Tragedy Khadafi gets NO RESPECT. This album is a classic. Nowhere on this album does he talk about bitches, diamonds, cars or money. He's all about reality on the streets. This is a very dark look into his world in the ghetto's of NYC. And he paints a very dark picture. The beats on this album are FIERCE and his lyircs tight. The only miscue on this album is "Hood Love." You will, unfortunately, never hear Tragedy on the radio or MTV. But I suppose thats for the best cuz once you've made it there, you've probably sold out. Traggedy Khadafi is SERIOUS. Thanks for keepin it real, Tragedy."
