"Successive listenings to this wonderful, slightly dolorous album continue to reveal more and more varied influences. She is at once serious without being depressed [or depressing], moody without slipping into self-reflexiveness.
Comparisons may be the best way to describe the music, and the mood. Here we have Julie Cruise [remember Twin Peaks?] without the monotony. Here we have Peter Gabriel-esque cadances--confident, almost march-like. Here we have Pink Floyd without David Gilmour's soaring guitar solos. Most of all, we have orchestral music highly reminiscent of The Moody Blues at their best. Through it all we have her wonderful, wonderful voice, and lyrics that are truly interesting.
I was previously unfamiliar with Barbara Trentalange's work. After picking up this album I am a huge fan. Buy it. Enjoy it. Albums this good are too rare right now."
