"It's always refreshing when a singer/songwriter comes along doing something different. The roots rock feel of Trevor Hall is eminent on the EP 'The Rascals Have Returned' which showcases a few tracks once only previously heard on a live EP. Combining the sounds of Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson to create his own unique sound (he draws influence from both but is not a copy), Trevor brings back a once defunct style of roots music popular in the mid nineties (similar to Rusted Root or Arrested Development). Obviously a child of a different generation, Trevor crafts songs with meaning and feeling and mixes them perfectly with funky acoustic guitar, hopping bass, and tribal percussion rhythm throwing in a bit of freestyle lyrics every now and then. On the lead off track 'Under The Blanket', he lets both his faith shine and his frustration come through, with lyrics that send a message that penetrates deeper than the listeners eardrums. While not taking away from the message though, the music is something that can only be categorized as unique. He draws on all his influences, all different genres of music, and blends them together to create a style of folk rock that seems way beyond his years. A child of the east coast, and a surfer as well, this South Carolina native seems like he'd fit well around the open fires of the beaches of California and Hawaii. The other 3 songs on the EP showcase his range of funky all the way down to mellow. Produced by John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Jason Mraz), 'Under The Blanket' is an excellent and appetite whetting tease of what is sure to come on Trevor's full length major label debut album.

"This CD is great!! I saw Trevor Hall at a recent Stevie Nicks concert (he opened up for her) and loved every song he sang! I just wish this CD had more songs on it..there is only 4 songs. But they all are worth listening to!"
Amazing
