An Interesting Surprise

"I purchased this item expecting a turkey and was pleasantly surprised! The songs are performed by different artists in a variety of styles, so you'll probably have mixed reactions to the entire 3-CD set. The true gem of this collection is the first song, "London is Behind Me", which sounds amazingly like Justin Hayward circa 1968. The performer's voice sounds like vintage Justin, and he knows enough about Moodies styling to include an arrangement that borrows guitar work from The Best Way to Travel. It's also little slower than the high-speed original. I'd buy the cd all over again just to have this song."
An ambitious undertaking

"This compilation is full of surprises, and simply a must-have for any fan of the Moody Blues. These 3 CD's of Moody covers represent many new and primarily unknown contemporary prog-rockers, whose origins span the globe. If the goal was to make a tribute worthy of the magnificent history of some of the best music in the world, I'm pleased to say that very few of these missed their mark.
While some groups satisfied themselves with respectable renditions of the songs they chose to cover, others treated themselves to complete reworkings of some of the least known tunes in the Moody repertoire. In short, this compilation brilliantly goes places where others feared to tread! Everything from the choice of songs to the choice of artists, brings the listener to a new place.
I'd be lying if I said every Moody fan will appreciate every song, but I'll guarantee that any fan will love hearing some of their favorite songs for the first time (again).
This was a totally risky and ambitious project, but it's one I am grateful someone took a chance on, and brought to completion. Commercial success was obviously never behind the decisions made on this true labor of love and appreciation!
As another reviewer guessed, the musician that contributed "London Is Behind Me," knew a lot about the Moodies. Fact is, he debuted this lovely offering at a Moody fan message board before this compilation was even developed, and despite the fact it was not actually a cover of a Moody song per sé, it's inclusion was solely based on merit, and was very deserving of a larger audience."
Major Dissapointment

"As an avid Moodies fan, I was looking forward to a little vaviation in their music, as performed by others. Boy, what was I thinking!?!
The cost of this cd set was over $40.00. This amount could have been spent on REAL MB music. This wasn't even a tribute but rather a different take on the Moodie's great music. I found the end result butchering. Save your money for something better. This was really bad."
