CD Reviews

One of the top three Judas Priest tribute CDs out there.

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Like the Legends of Metal series this is an excellent Judas Priest tribute CD. All of the songs covered, musically, are very good. There were a couple of songs with vocals I didn't care for mainly because they don't match up with the song. "Jawbreaker" done by Siebenbugen comes to mind. It sounded like Froggy from the Little Rascals trying to sing a Priest Song. I liked Iced Earth's cover of Screaming for Vengeance much better than the one they did for the Ripper in the Legends of Metal series. Matthew Barlow's voice was a great match for that song. They played it much heavier also. Death's cover of Painkiller isn't my favorite version of that song but is still very good. Chuck Schuldiner's vocals fit the song surprisingly well. Hearing other material from Death I didn't think Chuck Schuldiner could pull off that sound, but he did. Steel Prophet's cover of Dreamer Deceiver is outstanding, probably the best on the CD. Skid Row's cover of Delivering the Goods with Rob Halford doing guest vocals was a highlight as well. Primal Fear does an excellent cover of Metal Gods. You would swear it was Rob Halford's voice they are so similar. Overall this is a great tribute disc and actually deserves 4 1/2 stars."
