"The faithful fans of Neil Young probably will not find this tribute of much interest. To those that besides rock/ pop / country etc, "live" surrounded by "classical" music, this record enclose an emotional bonus. The original music of different Neil Young albums performed by the string quartet sounds fantastic enhancing the string capacity to modulate the "natural" notes and this way mimic the singer voice. The ornamental / orchestration and even almost improvisational bars are quite satisfying. However, the big surprise is listing to familiar abridged themes that our "classical" ears recognize. The experience is just fantastic and poignant, a real unexpected bonus in this more than recommendable record. In the first track: Rockin' in the free World the famous "Sleepers, Awake (Wachet auf, ruft uns die stimme) from the BWV 140 Cantata shows up. The song Harvest Moon "engulf" the also famous "Jesu, joy of men's desiring (Jesu bleibet meine Freunde) from the BWV 147 and the curious Ohio song explores the Peer Gynt Suite nº1 op 46- In the hall of the Mountain King. After enjoying this Tribute, the next step is to listen to the original Neil Young songs and look for the original Johann Sebastian Bach and Edvard Grieg pieces."
