CD Reviews

Great new take on some of my favorite Offspring songs.

"Offspring's 'Smash' album was the first CD I owned and I have since collected all of their releases before and after.

This CD a remarkable re-visioning of a wide range of their songs. I'm not generally a fan of Country or Bluegrass but the skill and speed with which Cornbread Red plays keeps much of the punk feel. Lyrical pacing has been altered to fit the genre and it works all across the board.

Track 7, Jennifer Lost the War, is from The Offspring's very first album. Most of the songs from that album are *very* punk as compared to their more mainstream and recent work. As such, those songs, this one in particular are rarely heard. The tonal change for Jennifer Lost the War is beautiful. It's has gone from an angry societal commentary to a hauntingly sad tribute.

As I was listening to the CD on the drive home, I imagined that I could share this music with some friends who might not appreciate the originals as much as I do. I wholeheartedly recommend this album to fans of The Offspring, fans of Bluegrass who can appreciate more modern lyrics, and fans of good music in general."
