Thug Holiday
SID | BOSTON | 09/15/2002
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This must be the week for thugs getting right with God. Like Dirty South godfather Scarface (who shows up here on "Gangsta"), Trick Daddy does indeed take a holiday of sorts from thuggery on his latest release. He once again enlists a children's choir, a la past tunes "I'm A Thug" and "Amerika," to ponder his blessings on the gospel-edged "God Been Good," and prays on the title track for gangstas not strong enough to make it in the streets, with an assist from Xscape's Latocha Scott. Yet while his tunes have come a long way from the tuneless Miami shout-outs of yore--the soulful single "In Da Wind," featuring a scene-stealing cameo from Cee-Lo, being a prime example--Thug Holiday still falls back on lyrical and musical cliches a bit too often to make it stand out in the increasingly inventive southern hip-hop landscape."
Trick is still bad
LickemLow | Orlando, FL | 08/15/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Most people are just now catchin on to this dude, but hes been around for awhile now. i got every one of his CD's, and theyre all bad. Most people who review this would say ohh dang this CD is good, but they dont know anything. If you like Trick ad Scarface, youll like this CD. All his beats are tight like usual, and his lyrics are all real unlike 80% of other rappers. If you like down south stuff this is a CD to get. Most people who listen to Trick Daddy have only been listening to him since Thugs R Us or Chapter AK Verse 47. But for those who knew him back when his name was trick daddy dollars, you know his style will never change. He hasnt become a half R&B rapper like Ja Rule, Nelly, or others and his music will always be hard. Get this CD if you know anything about Southern music."
Decent For A "Thug" Album

(4 out of 5 stars)

"While I'm not a real big Trick Daddy fan, I went ahead and bought this album for the single "In Da Wind". I can't say this is bad, but I can't say this is good either. Songs like "Ain't No Santa", "All I Need", and "Thug Holiday" are nice stand out songs, but the album in general is worth passing. Don't get me wrong, if your a big Trick Daddy fan then you'll probably love it. But this record just doesn't work for me."
