"Very solid work combining Dave's thrumming and bouncy string work with Wally's solid and exciting drums. Although this is an excellent recording (Cat Food Sandwiches, Pay Bo Diddley, minglewood blues) and is well worth the five stars, I would rate Twango BAngo II slightly ahead of this. Are six stars available? Unfortunately, Dave does not have a recorxing contract right now ...
Dave does it all here - from dark blues, to bouncy reggae/ska influened numbers, to pretty straight ahead rock and roll. All of it with Dave's typical good humor. Hard to believe this is only two guys. Ingram's drums are right on the money and highly inventive. Both Twango Bango releases (such Good Twango! Good Bango Too !!) come with my highest recommendation."
Bang-a-twang....the magic of Mr Dave and the Wally-lama!

"This was the first CD available from the mighty duo of David Lindley and Wally Ingram, probably recorded in 1997, produced in Germany in 1998, a mix of live and studio tracks. It comes after the 2 delightful "official bootlegs" Lindley made with Hani Naser, and before the other Twango Bango Deluxe CD's (2,3 and Live in Europe). It is probably my favorite of the bunch, leading off with the quirky-sordid true tale of backstage food, Cat Food Sandwiches and including such killer hits as Minglewood Blues/45 Blues, Spodie, Coot From Tennessee, Do You Want My Job?, I Am a Patriot, Well Well Well, Waimanalo Blues, This Barstool's Reserved For My Heart, Pay Bo Diddley, People Sure Act Funny and Cottonmill Blues...whew, thats the whole CD, they are ALL good, real good in fact. These guys make a band full of sound together without overdubs (they are that good!). Wally is an amazing percussionist playing a full kit and misc noise-makers with sticks and hands and feet, Dave is a multi-instrumental wizard playing all sorts of acoustic and electric stringed things (oud, saz, bouzouki, chumbushi, 6 and 12 string guitars, lap-slide etc...). To my tastes he is the best slide player around. He plays skillfully with heart, tender and wild and always with the good vibe of his distinctive playful humor. I also like his voice a lot, not sweet and full but always in tune and expressive. These guys don't let ego get in their way and so they end up playing extremely well together (they listen!) and make for a good time for all.
All of Lindley's independently produced CD's are easily available from his website (davidlindley.com) or at his shows.
It doesn't get any better!"

"This music is great. Nuff said. But before you pay extortionist prices for this and other CDs by this great musician through Amazon Marketplace, please check David's website first! It is easy to find and his CDs are available direct from the musician himself for a mere $20 each. Not only will you get a better price than here, but you'll have the satisfaction of supporting the musician directly! And no, I don't work for David Lindley, never met him, he doesn't know me from the next face in the crowd. I buy my CDs from his site too."
