A lost psychedelic gem

"Twink was the drummer of Tomorrow, and he later became the core member of the notorious Pink Fairies. Between these period Twink came out with some surprisingly interesting project, and "Think Pink" is among the best. A great work comparable to Syd Barrett "Madcap Laughs", Peter Green "The End of the Game", Tyrannosaurus Rex "My People were fair...", etc. The first 8 track were great heavy psychedelic stuff with lots of sound effects. The first track "The coming of the one" included sitar accomplishment... and the best songs included "Ten Thousand words in a cardboard box" and "Tiptoe of the highest hill". "Fluid", "mexican grass war" were mad free jams, and so did "rock and roll the joint". "Suicide" is another great song. The weakest points in the album is Steve Peregrin Tooks' compositions, "Three little piggies" and "The sparrow is a sign", which oddly disrupt the whole album's dreamy atmosphere and turned it down into some drunk murmuring. Overally speaking, a must for 60's psychedelic lovers."

"This album, from 1970, is an excellent example of British psychedelia. The album is divided in half between instrumentals and vocal arrangements. Three Little Piggies is the only truly terrible song of Twink's debut album. To these ears, this album is much more interesting (actually it's pretty great)and less annoying than Syd Barrett's solo recordings. Rock And Roll This Joint is a cool bluesy space rock instrumental that predates and sounds a little like the great Pink Fairies. Ten Thousand Words In A Cardboard Box, The Sparrow Is a Sign, Suicide, and Tiptoe On The Highest Hill are all mini psychedelic classics full of mellotrons and freak out guitar solos. This album is a fine addition to any late 1960's/early 1970's experimental rock collection."

"This 1970 reissue of the Pink Fairies drummer/vocalist is nothing short of true brilliance.The first five cuts here that include "Ten Thousand Words In A Cardboard Box","Dawn Of Magic","Fluid" plus two more certainly get the brain cells a frying.The rest of the disc shows just how diverse Twink can get.On cuts like "Mexican Grass War" or "The Sparrow Is A Sign",one might honestly believe they originally came off of another record.'Think Pink' was Twink's first solo outing,as this psych gem is an absolute must-have.The fellow musicians that gave Twink a hand on this lp include Pretty Thing's rhythm guitarist John Povey,Deviant's bassist Honk,Tomorrow's John Wood and T.Rex's Steve Peregrine Took(R.I.P.).An underground UK classic from the 1968-72 era."
