"Seeing that it is nearly impossible to find any of the post Schenker UFO releases in any music store (and I'm new to the internet), The Best of the Rest is about the only way to become acquainted with 80's UFO. Thank you Virgin Music, you are the only store that has stocked this album, as far as I know! Anyway, Chapman-era UFO is considerably more commerical and straitforward than anything in the Lights out/Obsession heyday. And Paul is not quite as talented as Schenker either, but then again, not many are. The tunes here don't breathe with the unique identities of say a "Out in the Street" or a "Love to Love," but they do contain a smooth, enjoyable ride throughout. The only two real clunkers here are "Night Run" and "This Time" which are both off the Misdemeanor album which featured "Atomic" Tommy M on lead guitars; two tunes that are way too polished and candy-coated for old-school UFOers. The best songs all hail from the earlier albums. "Makin Moves" is probably my favorite followed by "Money Money" and "Chains Chains." All three rock down a tampled path but also tend to complement UFO's trademark melodic side. Anyone who was into the band during their late 70's glory days will be interested in this one and aptly rewarded."

"Though many of the songs we rocked to in the 70's and 80's are here, this is a sort of " volume II". The" Best of" is out there and contains their more commercially successfull tunes. Personally I prefer "The Rest"... it's far more consistent. Neverless neither album does any justice to the band. If you can find them start with "Lights out" and "Obcession" and go from there. If you have no desire to spend the dollars or try to locate the originals - these albums will do nicely. GF"
