The University of Miami Hip-Hop Club aka "The Elements" has just released their first album "The Compound- When the Elements Combine", an impressive 20 track compilation featuring over 15 new and unsigned artists! The Element's MC's are lead by the founder of the club Lenny "White Russian" Kagan whose two songs "Tales From The Krypto" (track #16) and "Since '99" (track #2) are the first two singles off of the album. "White Russian" is a featured artist on a new tv show called "Hip-Hop Drive" that will air on cable in Miami & Ft. Lauderdale soon! (check: hiphopdrive.com). He also had a song that appeared in the hit movie "Bring it On" from universal pictures. Other new and hot artists include "The Dark Skinned Marksman" who performs the song "Execution Style" (track #2), and "IL-Literate" an MC & producer from Texas who supplies almost half of the album's production! Founded in October 1999 to provide an outlet for the expression of Hip-Hop Culture on campus, "The Elements" have formed a growing army of over 100 educated Hip-Hop soldiers who are ready to take Hip-Hop to the next level in Miami. With the release of their new album- "The Compound- When The Elements Combine" they are half way there! UM's entire campus is already in shock over how tight and professional the album is- nobody expected this! Now the time has come the for all of Miami and the whole Hip-Hop community to know that The UM Hip-Hop Club aka "The Elements" is real. UM's radio station 90.5 FM and FIU's 88.1 FM are already playing the first two singles. The album recieved an excellent review in "The Hurricane" (UM's official newspaper) and is selling well on campus and in many local stores. Miami New Times music editor- Celeste Fraser Delgado said that he was "intrigued by the album and the club itself" and is currently putting together an article and review.
